The Connecticut Department of Revenue will begin taking applications from certain Taxpayers who qualify for its tax amnesty program that runs from May 1, 2009 through June 25, 2009.
Corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, and personal income taxes will be covered under the program.
Taxpayers may be eligible to pay back taxes, avoid penalties and criminal prosecution. A reduction in interest will also be offered. If a Taxpayer failed to file or underreported their taxes, they may be eligible for amnesty. However, the amnesty program only covers taxable periods ending on or before November 30, 2008. Taxpayer who have received a tax bill from the Department of Revenue or who are already in a payment plan cannot participate in the program for those periods.
Applications will not be accepted before May 1, 2009.
A Taxpayer will be considered ineligible if they are currently under audit by the Department of Revenue or they are a party to a criminal investigation, civil, or criminal litigation involving the Department of Revenue.
